Floyd A. Ross Memorial Scholarship, 1950 Ukiah High School Graduate
Just two weeks ago, the Mendocino College Foundation announced the creation of the Floyd Ross perpetual scholarship—$1,000 memorial scholarship awarded annually.
The original gift was provided by Charles B. and Wanda F. Mannon to the Ukiah High School Alumni Association. Upon word of the gift, Savings Bank of Mendocino County’s Board of Directors agreed to join the Mannon’s and provided an additional gift which increased the annual scholarship to $1,500.
Floyd Ross worked in the banking industry for 64 years. When just 16 years old, he began his career at Savings Bank while still attending Ukiah High School.Ross served as the Executive Vice President/CAO, Chairman of the Board and as a Director for the Savings Bank of Mendocino County.
The new scholarship was created to honor Ross’ legacy in Ukiah. Eligible students must graduate from Ukiah High School, enroll at Mendocino College and intend on pursuing a degree in business with an emphasis placed on the finance industry.
The first recipient of the Floyd Ross Memorial $1,500 Scholarship will be announced in early May. For more information about the Mendocino College Foundation or to donate towards any of the foundations programs, call Katie Fairbairn at 707-467-1018.
