In 2012, Emma Compa was a 5th grader attending Blosser Lane Elementary School in Willits when her name was called as a recipient of the Mendocino College Foundation’s Adopt A Fifth Grader Award.

Span forward seven years and Emma is enrolled at Mendocino College for the upcoming fall semester. She graduated from La Vida Charter School meeting both intentions of the AAFG program. The program was created to encourage students to graduate from high school and attend Mendocino College.

An avid soccer player, she is a defense player and is looking forward to the soccer season and winning games for MC. Academically, she graduated from high school with a 3.99 grade point average and is enrolled in 15 units at MC for the fall.

Emma’s goals include becoming an ER Nurse and once she meets her prerequisites she will begin applying to the college’s nursing program. In her spare time, she volunteers at the Humane Society of Inland Mendocino because as she puts it, I love dogs!

Emma expressed her gratitude to the Mendocino College Board of Trustee’s for their donation to the AAFG program. They were her donor and the seven members of the board of trustees annually donate $100 each towards the AFFG program.
