Scholarship Recipient Hailey Choate

“Scholarship Recipient Hailey Choate” Ukiah… “Hailey Choate is a remarkable woman,” according to her professor, Helen Falandes. She has received multiple scholarships through the Mendocino College Foundation because she is simply an outstanding student.

Choate maintains a 4.0 grade point average at Mendocino College and is looking forward to the next chapter of her educational career. She will be one of the first to start the college’s new Physical Therapy Assistant program this fall.

North County 5th Graders Receive Scholarships

Willits...Nine fifth grade students, representing Willits and Laytonville received the Mendocino College Foundation’s Adopt a Fifth-Grader Award. This annual program is designed to motivate students early to start thinking about graduating from high school and to attend college.

Mendocino College Biology Student Awarded Mendocino Coast Audubon Scholarship

The Friends of the Mendocino College Coastal Field Station and Natural Sciences are pleased to announce the awarding of the 2019 Brandon Pill Memorial Mendocino Coast Audubon Society $1000 scholarship to biology student Jasmine Martin. Jasmine has been studying marine biology at Mendocino College.

"As part of my biology studies, I have visited the Mendocino College field station in Point Arena, CA," explains Jasmine. "There, I conducted fieldwork on marine organisms and plant life."

Giving the Gift of an Education

A longtime supporter of Mendocino College has established a new perpetual scholarship in honor of his late wife, Mary Lou Koeninger.  The Mary Lou Koeninger Memorial Scholarship will provide an annual $1,000 scholarship to a student enrolled in earth sciences at Mendocino College.

MC Foundation Scholarships Awarded

May 1, 2019- The Mendocino College Foundation's Jerry Chaney, Scholarship Chair, is honored to announce that, "More than $170,000 in scholarship dollars have been awarded to both returning and new Mendocino College Students."

One hundred and twenty-eight individual scholarships were awarded and will be disbursed for the Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 semesters at Mendocino College.  Scholarships average from $500 to $2,500 and provide the financial support that many students need in order to stay in school.

Coastal Student Katie Layton Receives Multiple Scholarships

Fort Bragg, CA…… “You want to go to school? You can go to school!” That’s what Katie Layton discovered when she took advantage of the open enrollment for online classes at Mendocino College. Although she has a background in bookkeeping, Katie had never considered the possibility of a career as an accountant until she went online to and was a student within the hour.

Attending College Changed My Life

Ukiah... Mendocino College Student Christina Horst was incredibly nervous about going back to school but with the help of mentors, friends and Mendocino College Counselor Sue Samota’s help, she enrolled in classes and as they say, the rest is history.

Horst worked in the grocery store industry for over fourteen years. She knew that the physical nature of the work was hard on her body, and decided to enroll in school in order to use her mind.
